When I’m looking for a sport with more integrity I’ll grab the remote and surf for some pro wrestling.

You almost never see a new technology that reaches 10 or 20 million users and is still growing fast, that then falls over and dies.

We’ll see three months of experimentation and development of new apps on Facebook, including many false starts and many duds, but also a whole series of innovative new apps that we haven’t even thought of yet. Come September, with the resumption of the school year and a whole crop of new freshpeople, Facebook traffic will once again go vertical, as will adoption of the best of the new apps. You heard it here first.

Dick Cheney stashes secrets securely by the sea shore. How many secrets does Dick Cheney securely stash?

This administration does not turture logic. It simply flew logic in an unmarked plane to Bulgaria.

3G is darn near a cable modem experience. When you’re connected via that little “3G” icon in the upper-right hand corner of your mobile phone screen, it’s like a beautiful, golden river of bytes flowing into your cell phone. It makes using the internet on the go an absolute pleasure. EDGE data connections, on the other hand, are none of those things.

The iPhone only supports EDGE data connections— and doesn’t support 3G data connections at all! It’s a cruel oversight for a phone that has such an outstanding web browser. If you think reliance on WiFi is an advantage of the iPhone, check your reality distortion field. I’ve lived the WiFi lifestyle when I’ve travelled, and it’s not pleasant. Free, public WiFi points are a dying breed.

By weighing in at more than 6,000 pounds, big SUVs are prohibited on thousands of miles of road in California. Cities across the state—including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Pasadena, and Santa Monica—use the 3-ton cutoff for many or nearly all of their residential streets. However, prosecution of the Golden State’s ban on big SUVs is a contender for the least enforced traffic regulation in America.

Those who take the federal and state tax breaks for their heavy SUVs are happy to accept the GVWR as their vehicle’s official weight. After all, they must be over 6K to get the write-off. Yet now they’re arguing that the actual weight of the vehicle as it rides along California streets may—may—be slightly under 6K. Pick a number and stick with it.

Why are we telling our students not to use Wikipedia rather than educating them about how Wikipedia works? Sitting in front of us is an ideal opportunity to talk about how knowledge is produced, how information is disseminated, how ideas are shared.

Current AM radio licences are up for renewal in 2011 and 2012. The question whether or not current stations will be commercially viable by then.
